You found great friends on Discord, but you don't share a language. You can still play, chat and laugh together. This guide covers what works in text and voice, and how live subtitles and a translated voice can close the gap on a Windows PC.
Trannel runs on Windows PCs. Send yourself the link to download it later on your PC – or join our Discord in the meantime.

Text is the easiest place to begin, because everyone can take their time.
The limit is obvious: text cannot keep up with voice chat during a game, and that is where most of the fun on Discord happens.
The biggest hurdle is following what people say out loud. The practical answer is a tool that listens to your PC audio and shows a translation as subtitles while they speak.
Trannel does this on Windows 10/11. It translates what your PC plays into subtitles in an overlay that stays on top of your game or Discord window:
Speech recognition and translation cover 20 languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian, with specialist models for Thai and Chinese.
Understanding is only half of a conversation. To be understood without typing, your speech needs to reach the others in their language.
Trannel's Voice feature (beta) translates your microphone and speaks the result with a natural voice into a virtual microphone. Your friends simply hear the translated voice in the call.
Natural voices are available for 13 languages; for the others, Windows voices are used. The same approach works in game voice chats that let you choose your microphone.
Translations are AI-generated and can contain mistakes, especially with slang, jokes, heavy accents or people talking over each other. Treat them as a bridge, not a perfect interpreter.
Trannel translates only what is spoken. Text that only appears on screen, such as chat messages or game menus, is not read.
Everything runs offline on your PC: no audio or text is uploaded. The app only goes online for the license check, updates and the first model download, which matters when your voice calls are private.
You can try it with 30 free minutes every week with all features and no account. After that, there are monthly, yearly and lifetime licenses.
Note on “Voice for Discord”: this feature is in beta. It may contain errors and its scope and behaviour may differ from a later version. It is only included in the version from trannelapp.com. Please test it with the free 30 minutes per week before you buy. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
No. Your friends just hear the translated voice coming through your microphone in Discord. If they also want subtitles of what you say in your own language, they would need their own translation tool.
Trannel uses automatic language detection, so the subtitles can follow speakers in different supported languages. Your own translated voice is spoken in the one target language you choose.
Yes. Subtitles work for anything your PC plays, and the translated voice works in game voice chats where you can choose the microphone, since it appears as a virtual microphone.
